Polysonics is seeking a Senior Acoustics Consultant to join our team and provide leadership in acoustical design and consulting services for architectural and environmental projects across a wide range of markets. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in acoustics and noise control, be sought as a valued design team member, and deliver conscientious designs with architects and owners across the architectural, environmental, and industrial sectors.

This is a hybrid role (3 days in office), and we are considering candidates in commuting distance to Charlotte, NC and Fairfax, VA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead acoustic design and consulting projects from inception to completion
  • Mentor junior team members and oversee their technical development
  • Author informative drawing markups, comprehensive technical reports, and confidently present findings to senior clients and stakeholders
  • Direct field measurement campaigns and interpret complex acoustical data
  • Provide authoritative guidance on sound isolation, room acoustics, and environmental noise control
  • Ensure projects meet or exceed local noise regulations and building code requirements
  • Lead collaborative efforts with multidisciplinary teams (architecture, engineering, MEP, low voltage) throughout project lifecycles
  • Contribute to business development activities and proposal writing
  • Stay current with industry advancements and represent the company at industry events

Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ progressive experience in acoustics consulting
  • Proven track record leading projects and delivering exceptional client solutions
  • Demonstrated experience writing and presenting high-impact technical reports and analyses
  • Bachelors degree required; Masters in Acoustics, Engineering, Architecture or related field preferred
  • Proficiency with acoustic modeling software, including SoundPLAN, EASE, Supersonic, Insul, and other relevant tools
  • Active membership and participation in relevant acoustical societies (ASA, INCE, etc.)
  • Strong client relationship management skills
  • Business development experience
