WJHW, Inc., a nationally recognized design and consulting firm, has an opening for an Acoustical Consultant. We are looking for an experienced acoustician with at least 5 years of consulting or similar experience; however, we welcome and encourage inquiries from recent college graduates. Responsibilities Include: The successful applicant will interact with clients, work with a group of acoustical consultants with varying degrees of experience, learn to manage projects from schematic design through completion, make acoustical measurements, and prepare test reports. The selected applicant will also work with other technical systems designers on a variety of projects, including sports venues, education, corporate office, civic buildings and environmental. The position includes the development and implementation of acoustical design, as well as, testing/analysis/modeling of acoustic systems.   • Provide high quality acoustic, noise, and vibration engineering advice on a wide variety of projects in academic, government, healthcare, industrial, and commercial market sectors
  • Manage building and environmental acoustics consultation efforts throughout the entirety of the project
  • Develop high-quality acoustics and vibration reports, details, and specifications
  • Review and comment on team construction documentation drawings and specification documents

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 4 years of within the acoustical consulting environment
  • Knowledge of a broad range of acoustical disciplines, including room acoustics, architectural sound isolation, mechanical system noise and vibration control, environmental noise, and structural vibration
  • Familiarity with acoustical terms and measurement/ calculation procedures, including ASTC, AIIC, STC, OITC, NC, NRC and RT or T60
  • General knowledge of sound masking as a supplement or enhancement of architectural sound isolation and privacy
  • Proficiency with technical equipment such as B&K and Larson Davis sound level meters and software, a tapping machine, loudspeaker sound sources, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, must be highly proficient in Excel
  • Knowledge of design team collaborative applications such as AutoCAD, BIM360, and BlueBeam Revu
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, team members, and stakeholders at all levels
