Entry- to Mid-Level Acoustical Consultant Summary DLAA is seeking an acoustical consultant/engineer for a staff consultant position in the firm’s Denver, Colorado office. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field of acoustics, engineering, architecture or science and a minimum of 2 years acoustical consulting experience. As a staff consultant you will be an active member of our technical staff and will work under the direction of the firm’s Senior and Principal Consultants. He or she will be responsible for the following:
  • Conducting acoustical analyses and developing recommendations for room acoustics, airborne and structure-borne sound insulation, and HVAC system noise and vibration control engineering.
  • Preparing design documents, writing reports, participating in design team meetings, coordinating with other design team members concerning acoustical design details, and developing acoustical criteria for different types of facilities.
  • Conducting field measurements (sound transmission loss, impact noise insulation, reverberation time, environmental noise, etc.)
  • A working knowledge of acoustical modeling software such as EASE, Cadna-A, AIM, and TRANE is a definite plus.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Some travel can be expected, as we work nationally and internationally.

Compensation

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Managing Consultants are subject matter experts who plan and manage small teams responsible for complex and large-scale project portfolios. They are responsible for the performance of the team and growth of existing portfolios.   • Collaborate with a team of acoustical consultants with varying experience
  • Manage projects from schematic design to completion
  • Conduct acoustical measurements and prepare test reports
  • Work with other technical systems designers on diverse projects, including sports venues, education, corporate offices, civic buildings, and environmental noise control
  • Develop and implement acoustical designs
  • Perform testing, analysis, and modeling of acoustic systems
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE This position requires application of the principles and techniques of physics, engineering, and mathematics to the assessment, design, testing, and development of acoustical plans for architectural room acoustics, architectural sound isolation, mechanical noise and vibration control, and environmental noise.
  • Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related audio/technical field
  • Experience or strong interest in acoustical design, sound isolation, and noise control
  • Ability to apply acoustical principles using physics, engineering, and mathematics
  • Strong desire to excel in acoustical consulting and design
