Qualifications

  • Experience reading architectural drawings and site plans is ideal.

  • Familiarity with building design phases and construction process.

  • Technical narrative writing and communication, especially to non-scientific audiences.
  • Project management experience a plus, including oversight of project scope, fee and deliverables

Experience with the following software

  • Bluebeam, Revit / BIM modeling, AutoCAD
  • MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • 3D modeling: Sketchup, Rhino
  • Bruel and Kjaer meters and software – familiarity is a plus
  • Odeon, Max MSP, SoundPlan, MatLab – familiarity is a plus
  • Architectural or Professional Engineer licensure is also a plus

This position is based in Seattle, Washington offices, with a hybrid work model. The Greenbusch Acoustical Department provides the following services:
  • Environmental noise and vibration (industrial, construction, etc.).
  • HVAC noise and vibration (building systems, noise code compliance, etc.).
  • Building acoustics (sound isolation, reverberation control, etc.).
  • Test and measurement (environmental noise, building acoustics, vibration, etc.).
 At a minimum, the position would initially be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Perform environmental noise/vibration assessments (transportation, utilities, construction, etc.) using modeling software and manual calculations.
  • Conduct short-term and long-term measurements of environmental noise/vibration, including ambient conditions and compliance monitoring.
  • Develop acoustical recommendations to satisfy design criteria, coordinate with the design or permitting team, and prepare narratives and memoranda documenting analysis results.
  • Perform building acoustics assessments on an as-needed basis.
  • Lift 50 pounds and be able to transport measurement equipment to and from measurement sites throughout the Pacific Northwest.
 Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, mathematics, physical science or related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written, and a high appreciation for quality customer service.
  • Self-motivated, able to manage own schedule, coordinate multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
 Desired skills:
  • Experience with basic scientific testing protocols, data acquisition, data interpretation and reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel.

  • Experience with acoustical modeling software (e.g., CadnaA, TNM, or similar) and technical tools to support acoustics/noise analyses (spreadsheets, GIS.)
  • Familiarity with acoustic measurement practices, software, and instrumentation (sound level meters).
  • Experience reviewing local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Vibration measurement experience is not required but would be beneficial. Experience with underwater noise (hydroacoustic) measurements and/or modeling would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with scientific programming languages for data processing and analysis (Matlab, Python) would be beneficial.
  • Experience working on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
