WJHW, Inc., a nationally recognized design and consulting firm, has an opening for an Acoustical Consultant.

We are looking for an experienced acoustician with at least 5 years of consulting or similar experience; however, we welcome and encourage inquiries from recent college graduates.

Responsibilities Include:
The successful applicant will interact with clients, work with a group of acoustical consultants with varying degrees of experience, learn to manage projects from schematic design through completion, make acoustical measurements, and prepare test reports. The selected applicant will also work with other technical systems designers on a variety of projects, including sports venues, education, corporate office, civic buildings and environmental. The position includes the development and implementation of acoustical design, as well as, testing/analysis/modeling of acoustic systems.

Qualifications and Experience:
This position requires application of the principles and techniques of physics, engineering, and mathematics to the assessment, design, testing, and development of acoustical plans for architectural room acoustics, architectural sound isolation, mechanical noise and vibration control, and environmental noise.

• A degree in Engineering, Architecture, or other audio related field
• Experience in sound acoustical design, et. demonstrating a strong interest in the field
• Desire to perform acoustical consulting and design at a high level

CENSEO AV+Acoustics is a consulting firm specializing in design services for acoustics and noise control, Audio-Video, theatrical, telecommunications, and electronic security systems. We seek highly motivated, self-starting individuals to join our dynamic team.

This consultant position contributes to the design and development of a wide range of projects, including performing arts centers, multi-family residential, hospitality and resorts, municipal, educational facilities, sports and recreational centers, healthcare, military, and more. The position includes involvement in all phases of the design process, from project proposal to final systems checkout. Primary responsibilities include the ability to manage a project from beginning to end with minimal guidance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and effectively communicate technical design solutions to design team members, owners, and contractors.
  • Select equipment, cabling and pathways required for Audio-Video systems.
  • Prepare professional reports and calculations, communicating the team’s design recommendations directly with clients.
  • Prepare drawings/sketches and project specifications.
  • Conduct construction site visits for system checkout and compliance evaluation.
  • Successfully manage the project’s technical requirements, deadlines, deliverables, and budget.
  • Follow CENSEO’s protocol and quality control standards.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • 1+ years of engineering experience in audio-video system engineering, theater technology and/or acoustical systems.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical, architectural or mechanical engineering; theater technology or recording arts; or a related industry degree.
  • Experience in the building design and construction industry.
  • Prior working knowledge of Revit (1+ year) or become proficient within 6 months of hire required.
  • Experience with creating AV and/or theater technology system one-line diagrams and understanding signal flow.
  • Understanding acoustical concepts and desigin principles.
  • Desire to contribute to and grow with our CENSEO team.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Market Leaders are subject matter experts that plan and manage medium sized teams responsible for complex and large-scale projects within a geography or service line. RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Execution (15%)

– Actively work in alignment with leadership to confidently and accurately operationalize strategies

– Lead and guide a market/service line for a region, executing consulting engagements on-time and

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

– Bachelors degree required

– PE and/or INCE Board Certification strongly preferred

Job Description

  • Use your consulting expertise, engineering knowledge, and problem-solving skills to design and engineer acoustical solutions for our valued clients.
  • Attend client meetings with engineers, architects, and owners.

  • Collaborate with project team members as you conduct measurements and analyze data.
