Job Description
The successful candidate will have a BS or MS in a field of engineering or other field related to acoustics with a minimum of five years of experience in acoustical consulting. The Consultant will conduct field measurements, develop recommendations for room acoustics, airborne and structure-borne sound insulation, and perform HVAC system noise and vibration control engineering. In addition, the Senior Consultant will conduct environmental noise assessment studies, including the development of noise mitigation. Additionally, a Senior Consultant is responsible for preparing design documents, participating in project design team meetings, coordinating with other design team members concerning acoustical design details, developing acoustical criteria for different types of facilities, and preparing proposals for new work. A working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit is desirable. Experience in the use of various sound level instruments is essential. Project work includes direct contact and coordination with our clients. Excellent verbal and writing skills are a must. Some travel can be expected, but mostly it will entail inter-island travel.

We are seeking applicants for a consultant to join our team. In this role you will provide acoustics and vibration consulting support on a wide range of unique, interesting, and challenging projects, working with a variety of design teams and disciplines across the world.
Applicants should have a BS degree or higher in disciplines such as acoustics, mechanical engineering, or physics, with a MS degree preferred. Ideal candidates for this position will have around 5-10 years of professional experience, however candidates with a broad range of experience levels and technical backgrounds will be considered. Previous consulting experience or other work in acoustics and/or vibration control is preferred.
Familiarity with building design and construction, measurement instruments, DSP, and general theory of acoustics and vibration is desirable. The position will involve computer modeling for vibration and acoustics analyses, which could include building acoustics modeling and ray tracing, finite element analysis (FEA) and/or environmental noise modeling. Prior coursework in, professional experience with, or interest in learning such software is ideal.
Candidates wishing to work full-time from our office in the San Francisco Bay area, full-time remote, or in a hybrid arrangement will be considered. Field measurements are a critical aspect of our consulting work, and travel to project sites to conduct acoustic and vibration measurements will be required on occasion.
