Associate/Staff Engineer

Phoenix Noise & Vibration LLC is an Acoustical Engineering Firm located in Frederick, Maryland founded in October 2004 by a group of professionals with more than 30 years of combined experience in all aspects of noise and vibration control in the building industry. Our goal is to be the first choice for noise and vibration control services in the mid-Atlantic region.

The PNV environment will appeal to the independent, self-directed individual interested in being a part of a small but growing company. Working directly with the existing engineering staff will provide a unique opportunity for individual development in many aspects of acoustical engineering. With a client base predominantly in the DC area, there will be exposure and experience to a larger metropolitan work environment. The Associate/Staff Engineer will:
• Conduct a variety of field measurements.
• Perform data reduction and analysis.
• Provide design services using both computer modeling and traditional calculation techniques.
• Write reports documenting the measurement, mitigation, and design results.
• Interface directly with clients.
• BS Degree: Acoustical, Architectural, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering
• Proficient in MSOffice and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with CAD (such as AutoCAD, Pro E, SOLIDWORKS, etc.).
• Able to read architectural, mechanical, and structural plans.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possess problem solving skills with the ability to think creatively.
• Self-starter capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
• Related study areas: HVAC noise analysis, Building Acoustics (room separation analysis), Transportation Noise Analysis, Vibration, Finite Element Analysis
• Experience in: CadnaA, Sound Plan, EASE, AIM, TRANE, INSUL, and/or FHWA: Traffic Noise Model
• Construction experience
• Ability to interpret architectural and MEP drawing sets.

Senior Acoustical Consultant

Position Description: Acoustical Consultant/Senior Acoustical Consultant
BRC Acoustics & Audiovisual Design, a Seattle based acoustical consulting firm, is seeking a mid-to-senior level acoustical design consultant with the following competencies:
• Architectural Acoustics (design for Sound Isolation, Reverberant Sound Control)
• Mechanical Noise Control (including HVAC design to meet background noise design criteria)
• Environmental Noise Control (including noise measurements and monitoring)
• Excellent English language written and verbal communication skills
• Autocad (Revit is a plus)
• MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
The following are required:
• Bachelor’s degree in an acoustics-related field
• Minimum of five years of experience
• Minimum of two professional references
The following are desired but not required:

AKRF, Inc. is seeking to add a senior acoustical consultant to its New York City acoustics, noise and vibration group. Applicants should have 5 to 10 years experience and be self-motivated, innovative, highly driven, and have the desire work on a wide range of acoustics, noise and vibration projects related to environmental sources (e.g., transportation, industry, energy, infrastructure, etc.); construction; architectural, structural, and MEP systems review; and interior design. Responsibilities would be project management, acoustics/noise/vibration field measurements, acoustical computer modeling (TNM, FTA, CadnaA, INSUL, EASE), reviewing architectural/MEP/structural drawings, HVAC ductwork and equipment noise calculations, vibration isolation recommendations, engineering calculations, and recommending practical design solutions. Additional experience with Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements, the CEQR Technical Manual, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development noise standards, and Noise (E) designations with the New York City Mayor’s Office of Environmental Remediation would be beneficial.

Applicant should have a degree in one or more of the following: acoustical engineering, physics, mechanical, electrical or architectural engineering, and/or noise and vibration. In addition, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, well organized/detail oriented, project management and client relationship skills are keys to success in this role. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Your experience/qualifications:

•For leadership positions – 10+ experience in acoustic design and leading teams
