Big Sky Acoustics is a small, independent acoustical consulting firm in Helena, Montana that specializes in environmental noise assessment and architectural acoustical design for new and existing facilities. We work closely with architects, engineers, environmental scientists, planners, developers and government agencies to evaluate acoustic design issues and develop unbiased, cost-effective solutions. Areas of expertise include environmental noise, industrial noise, mechanical system noise to limit background noise, occupational noise control, room acoustics design for reverberation control, sound isolation design, and traffic noise analysis. Typical projects include churches, hospitals, industrial facilities, justice facilities, libraries, museums, mines, mixed-use developments, office buildings, pipelines, power generation facilities, private and multi-family residences, schools, studios, transportation systems and utilities. Services include: precise noise level measurements including testing for Sound Transmission Class (STC) and Impact Insulation Class (IIC) ratings, computer modeling and noise level contouring, determination of compliance with noise ordinances, regulations and guidelines including LEED v4.1, LEED for Schools, Green Globes, and Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) criteria, design, development and evaluation of noise control measures, room acoustics, sound isolation, and mechanical system noise control and design, preparation of clear and concise written reports and recommendations, and presentation of acoustical information at public hearings and meetings.
