We seek to hire an experienced acoustics consultant to work in our Architectural Acoustics and Mechanical Noise Control Group located in Southern California.

This senior-level position is client-facing, hands-on consulting for the full range of our projects, including commercial, civic, education, worship, residential, healthcare, and performing arts. You will work alongside some of the best acoustical consultants in the country to provide excellent guidance to our clients – architects, engineers, building owners, arts organizations, and other user groups. Our consultants are involved with all aspects of project management – from proposal writing to final construction and project closeout. Acentech’s consultants are actively involved with many professional societies (ASA, INCE, and others), and support the firm’s marketing and business development efforts.

Experience and background well suited to this position include:

  • 10+ years working for an acoustics consulting firm.
  • Proven acoustics consulting project management experience.
  • Providing consulting related to room acoustics, sound isolation, and mechanical system noise and vibration control on a variety of project types.
  • Evaluating community and environmental noise.
  • Reading and interpreting building drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Skill and interest in developing business, and an eagerness to be one of the “faces” of Acentech.
  • Passion for their work – for buildings, for sound, for music.

Additional experience that is beneficial (but not required to apply) includes:

  • A working understanding of vibration isolation.
  • Performing acoustics measurements, in accordance with ANSI, ASTM, and ISO standards.
  • Familiarity with acoustical modeling software, noise modeling software, AutoCAD, and/or Revit.
  • A Master’s degree in a field directly or closely related to architectural acoustics.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the field, via speaking engagements, byline articles, blog posts, etc.

Staff Consultant

Eilar Associates, Inc. is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Staff Consultant position in Escondido, CA with an anticipated start date in summer or fall of 2022.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing noise measurements and documenting site conditions
  • Developing computer noise models to assess roadway noise, mechanical noise, or other noise predictions
  • Writing technical reports
  • Assisting with the development of proposals

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree in acoustics or a related field, strong technical writing skills, ability to interact and work with clients, computer skills (including Microsoft Office), and high attention to detail. ASSOCIATE OR SENIOR CONSULTANT – PRINCIPALS ONLY

Wilson Ihrig is an internationally renowned acoustics, noise, and vibration consulting firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area with additional offices in Los Angeles, New York City, and Seattle. Our work covers a wide array of projects including architectural, public transportation with an emphasis in rail transit, environmental, forensics, construction, structural vibration, and whole‐building vibration isolation.

We are currently seeking a qualified acoustician for an Associate or Senior Consultant position which would be based out of our Emeryville, CA office. Education and experience should be commensurate with the position you are interested in, typically, 3 to 7 years and 6 to 10 years, respectively.

This is a full‐time position (nominal 35‐hour workweek) with benefits that include health care, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and a good work/life balance. Nominal salary: $65,000 to $90,000 per year, based on qualifications. The successful applicant must be an independent, reliable, and mature individual who is a self‐starter and thrives
in both in‐office and outdoor environments.

You will be joining a group of technical experts who collectively have more than 300 years of experience and knowledge.

Your contributions will include, but will not be limited to:

  •  Acoustical and vibration measurements, usually in the field
  •  Noise and vibration technical analyses and computer modeling
  •  Preparation and/or support of reports (writing and graphics) in clear, concise English
  • Senior Consultant will be expected to have frequent client interaction and actively engage in business
    development efforts.
    Minimal Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Acoustics, Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or other discipline with coursework related to acoustics and vibration
  • Direct, relatable experience to match the level of position you are seeking
  • Ability to work collaboratively, take direction, and ask questions a must
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word and at least one acoustic software package such as EASE, CadnaA, SoundPLAN, TNM
  • Working knowledge of CAD will be considered a plus
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Must demonstrate proof of permission to work permanently in the United States at hire.
